How To's/Tips

Want straight lines?

Apply painter’s tape to either side of the joint before applying the sealant. Smooth the bead of sealant with a caulk finishing tool dipped in water. Remove the tape before the sealant skins over- about 2-5 minutes. To remove, lift the edge up at a 45-degree angle and pull away from you.

Preparations Should be Made for Extra Large Gaps

Preparations should be made for extra large gaps - use backer rod on any joint sizes that are deeper or wider than 1/2”.

Is this a silicone caulk?

No

Can I apply a layer of this caulk over 100% Silicone in order that I may paint?

No, this product will not adhere over 100% Silicone.

Can I use this in a shower?

No. The product is not applicable for use in a bath or shower.

How long after do I have to wait after I apply this caulk before I can expose it to rain?

The product is water ready in just 2 hours at a given application of 3/16” bead applied at 72 F, 50% humidity.

The label says it is paintable, but can I stain it.?

No, the caulk cannot be coated with a stain.

What is the shelf life for EXTREME STRETCH?

12 months

Is EXTREME STRETCH paintable? When can I paint it?

Yes. Wait at least 2 hours prior to painting with latex paints. Cool or humid conditions or type of paint used may require longer dry times.

Are there certain materials EXTREME STRETCH is not recommended for?

Substrates made of methyl methacrylate, polycarbonate, polypropylene, polyethylene and polytetrafluoroethylene do not allow for best adhesion and compatibility with sealant. Try test area before using.

How can I clean up EXTREME STRETCH?

Clean up with a damp cloth or sponge before it skins over. Cured sealant must be cut or scraped away.

How do I properly apply EXTREME STRETCH?

1. Surface preparation. It is imperative that the project surface is clean, dry and clear of old sealant. EXTREME STRETCH will not adhere to old sealant. 2. Cut the nozzle at a 45° angle to desired bead size. 3. Load into caulk gun. 4. Fill gap with sealant, pushing the bead forward. 5. Tool within 15 minutes.

How long does it take for the sealant to dry through?

Sealant should reach dry through in 24 hours per 3/16” of thickness at (68°F. and 50% RH)

What are some common projects for this product?

Windows, doors, crown molding, chair rails, base boards, trim, siding, vents, soffits, eaves, counter tops, sinks.

What applications are NOT recommended for this product?

EXTREME STRETCH is not ideal for use below a water line or for marine or automobile applications.

What additional safety precautions or preparations should I make prior to starting my project?

Tape areas near the project area to help create a professional looking finish and prevent sealant from adhering to unwanted areas. | Always wear personal protective equipment including gloves, aprons, and safety glasses. | Always practice before applying. | Apply in temperatures above 40°F. | Do not apply if rain or freezing temperatures are forecasted before full cure can occur. Cold weather and high humidity will slow down cure time.

What preparations should I make for extra-large gaps?

Ensure to use backer rod on any joint sizes that are deeper or wider than ½”.

What is the benefit of urethane?

Polyurethane is added into an acrylic latex base to help increase flexibility, adhesion strength and overall durability. The acrylic latex base helps improve toolability, allows for easy clean-up with water and low odor.

What is the warranty?

LIFETIME GUARANTEE. DAP warrants this product for sealant purposes during the lifetime of your home when applied within one year of purchase and as directed. If product fails to perform when used as directed, return container and sales receipt to DAP Products Inc., TCS, 2400 Boston St., Baltimore, MD 21224 for replacement product or sales price refund. DAP will not be liable for incidental or consequential damages.

I was super excited to receive this free sample of Dab Extreme Stretch Premium Crackproof Elastometric Sealant. My bathtub had several cracks in between the wall and tub. This project was very easy to do!! I got my chalking gun and loaded it. Next I cut off the tip of the applicator. I slowly started to squeeze the trigger, and the cracks were instantly filled. I had enough in this tube to finish the front of my tub. This really updated the look of my tub. I am so pleased with this outcome. The installation was super easy, quick drying and no mess. I would definitely recommend using this for any at home projects. #IGotItFree #HomeRepair #viewpoints

I love this product and the versatility it offers - it is a great product to be used both on inside and outside surfaces. I love that it is specially formulated to stretch 600 percent ensuring it does not crack or lose adhesion. The product is really effortless to apply, low in smell, and simple to clean up making it a really seamless product to use. It is ideal for windows, doors, trim, gutters, sinks, and countertops. It adheres to pretty much any surfaces and dries within two hours in which then it is ready to be painted. It has a warranty so you can rest assured your projects will be done efficiently and live (or in my case exceed) my expectations.

I like using this sealant ...it's perfect and never coming up...one of the very good sealant I ever used...I used to do my home repairs by myself...I tried some sealants before...but I got some issues like coming up or never fix properly...but this sealant is very nice....it's very easy to fix and long lasting....I strongly recommended this to everyone....

I've used just about every caulk/sealant available, and this is my all purpose go to. The rival stretch is great; but for jobs where I need it skinned and ready to paint quicker, plus can count on durability/elongation & adhesion extreme stretch takes it. Very smooth tooling and easy cleanup. Plus I've used it outside on bigger joints in white color and it hasn't crazed or turned yellow after UV exposure. Great sealant all around.

It's easy to apply, has no foul odor and cleans up easily. Has held up well on inside projects like sinks and countertops. The white color blends well with my sink. It has mold and mildew resistance and so far I haven't had any issues. For outdoor use, it has held up fine through the end of summer and fall, would like to go through a winter and full summer to see how it withstands rain, blistering heat and freezing cold. Overall, it seems to be holding up well over time. I like the product and recommend it. I will be buying more.

I used this product to caulk around a sink in my bathroom just like I've used DAP products in the past. It was very easy to apply an looks great. I'm a general contractor so I tend to use a lot of Caulking products and I always go with DAP . The color is great an is as white as my sink. Couldn't be any happier with this product.
