I would buy again

I used to fill in cracks on cement birdbath. I brought the basin part into the house to fully dry out and clean well. Then I applied the ready made cement all over the inside of the birdbath to reseal it again. Some areas are thicker than others because of missing concrete. It is already hardening and I only finished applying it 1 hour ago. I will leave in the house for the next few weeks to fully cure. Really nice to work with, looks like real cement. I wore rubber gloves which helped in smoothing out the cement, I used my fingers to do so. Hopefully it stays sealed for awhile but anything is better than the cracks, as the water was constantly draining out.

My concrete driveway had a piece chipped out from a snow plow. I used this product 5-6 years ago. Its still there and I'm pleased with the result. I have a project at my church repairing a cinder block wall. The blocks are deteriorating and have 1/8" to 1/2" deep pockets, craters, and depressions. Some are smaller some larger. I began layering this product into the pockets and it has adhered very well and lasted through some heavy summer downpours. Many have attempted to repair this wall in the past with various products but, not have shown the durability of the DAP.

Worked perfectly in spite of me doing it wrong!

So I went to paint my garage interior and realized I had an area along the concrete foundation crumbled away, with deeply chipped areas. About 2-3 feet in overall length.Researched online & watched a 10 minute video of a pro who's been repairing concrete foundations for 30 years show me how. However he does large areas and mixes his own concrete. Went to local hardware store & they recommended this product. After prepping the area & scraping away any bad crumbly foundation with wire brush, I applied this with a trowel. Luckily for me I did not read these reviews 1st cause I probably wouldn't have tried! I applied on deep areas well beyond what manufacturer recommends. It was mostly unpainted, see "before" photo. Then it occurred to me I didn't know what the drying/curing time was before repainting. Asked guys at the paint counter, they said at least 30 days is standard for concrete. Yikes, ok. So I painted garage except this area and made a note on my calendar to paint a month later. Painted a month later (with paint made to be used on concrete). it's hard as a rock and paint dried on quickly. It looks much better than if I had just painted over the crumbly concrete and I'm very happy with the outcome and the product. It was really easy for me to use not having done anything like this before. You probably should plan on letting it dry a long time. It seems to be standard practice and not a flaw in this product but user error if you attempt to paint too soon.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Poor product, never set up

Applied the product as directed on a dry day in the high 70s to high 80s. Trying to repair some chips in an exterior stairway. None were more than 1/2" deep. Product went on easily and smoothly The stairway was in direct sun for two full afternoons but the material never set up. The package states you can drive over the hardened product in 24 hours. By the third day, the product was the consistency of firm chewing gum. I had to dig it all out and start again. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing and using the stuff!!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for posting your feedback. We're sorry to see your low star review on DAP Ready-Mixed Concrete Patch. DAP Ready-Mixed Concrete Patch is an acrylic latex (water based) formula, as such, the sole drying mechanism is the evaporation of water. Dry time can be significantly impacted by cool or humid application conditions, moisture in the application surfaces or by thick (deep) applications of the product. Approximate dry times are as follows: initial set time: 2-4 hours (surface dry), full set time: 24 hours. Full hardness/performance will not be achieved until all of the water contained within the formula has evaporated. At your convenience, please contact DAP's Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477 so that we can obtain some additional information from you regarding your experience.

A silica medium, similar to grout, this product is not great at any one application but is at best only mediocre for filling the smallest of cement cracks. The instructions say to apply it at most in 1/4" increments however even in cracks roughly 1/16 of an inch the substrate shrinks and cracks while taking days to fully cure. The instructions note that different humidity levels and weather will affect the drying, I used mine in California, during the summer dry months, inside a warehouse. I would not suggest this product, it is easier and less expensive to use traditional concrete for most cracks. Also, the silica prevents you from feathering the edge of your fill, leaving it with a jagged edge, like a heavy frosting that will slowly erode as you walk over it leaving bits of silica to sweep up every day.

Great Product

I live in SE Kansas with High Humidity Year Round and Extreme Hot & Cold Seasons. The DAP VINYL CONCRETE PATCH adheres really well to any clean concrete surface and is EASY TO USE. Avoid using if temperature is below freezing. Whether working Indoors in a Basement or an Outside Driveway, Garage Floor, Foundation, Sidewalk, etc, this product GETS THE JOB DONE! Dries rather quickly on the surface so work quickly if in a hot area. Completely dries in 24 - 48 Hrs and Stays Put for Years. Works Great on cracks up to 1" wide on driveways, garage floors and foundation blocks and can repair Wider Areas if area is Stable. Can be smoothed or shaped with a Sander or Grinder & can be painted or sealed. SUPER PRODUCT!

Conflicting instructions

I bought this product to fill in some small holes in my front porch before painting it. I read the instructions on the product and it didn't say how long to wait until I could paint over it, so I called the tip line and was told 24 hours. After leaving it to dry overnight, I also found that the product isn't drying and is still gummy, so I have to wait again to put the second coat on the deeper holes, which are not more than 1/4 inch. Upon reading the technical bulletin on this website, it says to wait 28 days to paint over the patch. I called the tip line again and explained that and was told that I could paint after 24 hrs and that 28 days was for the full cure, but that's not what the TB says. I'm all ready to paint the porch this weekend, not 28 days from now, so which is it?

No, I do not recommend this product.

For best results, allow to dry and fully cure for at least 24 hours before moisture exposure or painting with an exterior latex paint. The patch material requires 7 days to dry and cure before painting with an oil-based paint. For best results, prime before painting, following paint manufacturer's instructions for application.

I had no issues with Dap Concrete Patch

This is the product my husband had in the garage, so I used it. I’m 68 and never patched concrete in my life. I used it on our back porch floor where a few small areas needed to be filled near the baseboards. After watching some videos and following the label directions, I was extremely pleased with the outcome. I needed to apply two layers and sanded in between. It dried nicely in 24 hours, and took the concrete paint beautifully. No issues.

Yes, I recommend this product.
